I’m Sarah Hill, founder and principal designer of Sarah Michelle Designs, an Austin based interior design studio focused on creating elevated residential designs that feel grounded, cohesive, and aligned with the way people truly live.

My approach to design starts with layout, function, and flow. I believe the strongest interiors are built from the foundation up, where circulation, scale, materiality, and thoughtful detail work together to create spaces that feel refined while supporting daily life.

Rather than designing toward one specific aesthetic, I focus on creating homes that reflect the people living in them. The materials we’re drawn to, the textures we connect with, and the way a space is layered should feel personal, authentic, and intentional.

My path into design started early, shaped by a family of makers, artists, and homes filled with depth and soul. From exploring my grandmother’s sewing studio to visiting museums, antique shops, and historic homes, I developed an early appreciation for craftsmanship, character, and interiors that feel personal rather than trend driven.

Professionally, I bring over eight years of hands-on experience across custom cabinetry, high-end residential projects, and luxury furnishings. That background shaped my understanding of scale, construction, materiality, and the level of precision required to create environments that not only function well but feel resolved and thoughtfully executed.

My goal is always the same: to design spaces that feel like home the moment you walk in.
